My History

Hello,

My name is Angelos Katsanakis.

I was born and raised in Volos where, from a young age, I was interested in the Byzantine art of Hagiography and the Theology of the image.

I studied for four years at the Karapiperion School of Byzantine Hagiography where I taught the Cretan and Macedonian school.

I have been active in the field of hagiography for the last 20 years, painting portable icons, murals and iconostasis.

I undertake entirely all the hagiographed portable icons, from the preparation of the woods to their hagiography and gilding as well as the hagiography of temples in Greece and abroad. You can find many of my pictures and works all over the country and beyond!

I have received praise and comments of admiration by participating in group exhibitions and several solo presentations throughout Greece.

Since 2005 I maintain a workshop and a shop with church items in Volos, at 29 Socratous Street.
